Happy new year people! Keep listening to the beat.
I'm leaving the Burgh tomorrow to spend the holidays with my family in Iceland. Didn't do it last Christmas as I was poor and in love. Fuck Iceland I thought. I'll have a cosy one right here in not so snowy Scotland, I'll buy turkey and make gravy like my uncle's wife does it and there will be presents, wine and warmth.
It turned out okay. Sure, there were presents. Some wine. I made gravy and it was prime stuff.
But even though I had company, I felt lonely. Looking back it wasn't the best Christmas or far from the worst I ever celebrated. But heck! It was different. Even weird and yes, slightly sad.
This year I'll be returning to tradition. I haven't been back home in over a year, and frankly, I can't wait.
I have my ticket, my passport and Christmas pudding. But I feel too tired to charge my ipod and I might just leave it here to rest. Instead I'll rummage through my mothers album collection when I get home. Listen to some Dylan. Make my mother sit down for 10 seconds to listen to Dylan. Tell my workaholic mother to take a few minutes once in a while to put her feet up and listen to some tunes. Her Makeba, Dylan and Cohen.
With the hum of the washing machine, the pull of my unpacked bags and the weight of my eyelids I wish you a happy holiday.
Safe traveling, wherever you're going.

Malaysian songbird Koko Kaina sets the mood for Christmas.
I'm definitely in the mood.
I'll bet a box of trinkets that this young lady will have a signed contract before the end of next year. I'll spit in the palm of my hand and shake on it. Koko Kaina will be rolling is some serious moolah sooner than later. Trust me.
There are only 16 days until Stuff you face and get fat day! Well for me anyway, cause in Iceland we celebrate on Christmas Eve, not Day. Makes more sense to celebrate the whole thing wearing your finest attire instead of your pyjamas.
My current rent paying gig (retail, smetail) and newfounded company (yay!) have been taking up all my blog time, so here at Random Album, there have been some lame times. Cobwebs in the corners and mold on the cheese.
Not so moldy however, Chicago band Catfish Haven. I love these guys, and if you happen to have a thing for The Black Keys you just might dig these dudes.
Catfish Haven
Set In Stone is forevermore wiggle worthy, as I have mentioned before. Plus, now I have a whole album to twist my legs to. Until hell freezes over! So there's plenty of time to dance.
Titled Devastator, I give the album both my thumbs up, and that really is as elaborate as I get. I'm done with stars. Thumbs it is.
Not sure about the album cover. Pink? I would have liked to see some more beard, sweat and rock'n roll.
Win some, lose some.
Bad picture quality, good sound quality. It's Set In Stone:
