The Village

Oh no! Has it really been almost a week since my last post? How utterly pathetic of my blogger self. Uhm... well tomorrow is the last day of my super cool festival job, where I've been manning the book signing tent at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. After that, I have a few days off to enjoy myself, relax, drink beer, listen to tunes, read my new books and celebrate my birthday with friends, eat sushi and stay out late, wayyyy past my bedtime. I'm really looking forward to that.

But oh, did I mention that I saw Sean Connery yesterday? No? Wello jello, the old fox had a Q&A event at the book festival, bringing with him wet winds that rustled through our little book village, creating a drafty atmosphere within our normally peaceful settlement.

Maybe this town doesn't care for its prodigal son. Just pondering.

Sir Connery

Today there has been a lot of whistling, people singing show-tunes and Queen. Free ice cream, doughnuts and cake, a book grab and a breeze of contentment making its way throughout the village.

Fun, fun.

Anyway, John sent me this and it made me happy:

The smashingly suave dancer reminds me of David Byrne and his Big Suit.

I should listen to The Frames more. I know I keep saying that but this time I really mean it.

Day Off!

I have a much deserved day off tomorrow. Feeling pooped. Festival has been great, been working my behind off but I do feel very accomplished and come September I thankfully have work lined up. It's part-time, meaning that I'll be able to do some writing as well. Really looking forward to that. Lots of ideas stirring.

OK so the music of the moment in my twirl of a world has mostly been my own humming, rattling in my skull. For some reason I've been whistling Boy George & Culture Club, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me. I think it comes from the fact that my workplace has these signs up for book loving folk that say: Do You Really Need A Bag? (We're on the planet saving band wagon)

That's how my mind works.

How to get off cocaine.

Speaking of Mr. Boy George, have a press-play-look at the below clip from a 1984, Boy George look-a-like competition in Sydney. The newscastor at the end cracks me up:

I'm going to enjoy my day off. I might go to a museum and be itellectual. Browse around for cool things. Or just eat cake and listen to the rain.

We shall see. We shall see indeed.

Random Dog Pic To Distract From My Absence

Please excuse my recent extended absence. Work is extremely hectic at the moment so Random Album will be turning the volume down for the next couple of weeks or so, although I might be tempted to post some new videos during that time.

Currently I'm still listening to Noah and the Whale and Fleet Foxes, so be sure to check them out.

Noah and the Whale with Laura Marling - 5 Years Time:

"So what the heck,
Cuz’ I’ll be laughing at all your silly little jokes,
And we’ll be laughing about how we used to smoke.
All those stupid little cigarettes and drink stupid wine,
Cuz’ it was what we needed to have a good time.
"

Stay tuned.
